Regional Champs x5
4/8/2008

The 2008 Regional Championships have come and gone and with that Milwaukee Sting VBC made a strong statement for retaining the unofficial # 1 ranking in the region.

All Sting teams played in the Open Division. Five teams brought home the coveted Gold Medal. A number of Sting teams met in the semi-finals and had to unfortunately knock each other off before getting to the Gold Medal match. In fact the only Sting head to head final match-up was in the 13's Division where Gold defeated Black in two games (27-25, 26-24).

The final results: 12 Gold--1st (Gold Champs)
12 Black--3rd
11 Gold--11th

13 Gold--1st (Gold Champs)
13 Black--2nd
13 White--6th

14 Black--2nd
14 Gold--3rd
14 White--9th (Bronze Champs)

15 Gold--1st (Gold Champs)
15 Black--3rd
15 White--5th (Silver Champs)

16 Gold--1st (Gold Champs)
16 Black--3rd
16 White--10th

17 Gold--1st (Gold Champs)
17 Black--5th (Silver Champs)
17 White--9th

18 Black--3rd
18 Gold--5th

Positional Training in April
3/24/2008
Article By: Kevin Lane

Starting April 9th our players will be partaking in weekly positional training sessions Monday through Wednesday. There will be two sessions planned for each day, 6:00-7:30 and 7:30 to 9:00. All sessions unless noted will be held at WCTC. Look close at the groups because there is a chance that your daughter will not be practicing on her previous night. I apologize for the inconvenience but was unavoidable.

The positional training sessions will take the place of one of your teams weekly practices. Many of the skills our players need to be successful take time and repetitions that are much more suited to the positional training forum and less for the whole team practice. We have grouped the players by specific needs for growth and development for their personal needs and team needs.

    [This was a 13's tournament]

This was the big "Windy City Invite,"
Our 12's showed they like the higher net height.
It was a long day, but we made it through,
"How?" you might say - well, let me tell you.

    Today was Siera's 12th Birthday,
She served and she set just the right way.
Maddie aimed to hit down the line,
That and her serves, she scored points just fine.
Mariana hit at that high net?
At least 6 kills she had you I bet.
Martha played that day so aggressive,
Her best day of the year she did give.
Katherine tried her best in the morning,
But a migraine came without warning.
    Kelly's a real aggressive middle,
Aiming for corners helps a little.
Sarah's learned to keep her elbow high,
Her hits and serves so perfect did fly.
McKenzie's great at playing the front row,
And she's our highest jumper you know.
Katie's sets were high and had great aim,
With such great form and footwork they came.
Andre's our biggest cheerer this year,
On and off the court, his support we hear.

With all our talent, we put up a fight,
And winning the gold was a nice highlight!
