Golf Outing Raffle!
8/23/2006

Folks, it's better than Ed McMahon coming to your door. Yes, I realize most of our players have no idea who that guy even is anymore but the kids aren't the ones golfing. How about box seats at a Brewers game? How about an autographed volleyball from Karch Kiraly? I won't even tell you what a hole in one could get you....and that's not even the "big one." No, I won't tell you that one either. If you want to know more, Click Here to find out!

17 Gold Takes 5th
7/17/2006
Article By: Darrel Frank - 17 Gold

Referred to by most as “The Pool From He&#”, 17 Gold found themselves in a pool with the best of the best. Seeded 3rd in the pool and 11th overall in the Tournament, the 17 Gold finished 5th! After three days of 2 3-out-of-5-game matches, they ended up 5-1 in the pool; upsetting the 3rd seeded team in the tournament (Celtic Force) and also putting a hurt on A5, Circle City, Toledo Juniors and St. Louis CYC. The lose came to California’s Gene’s Team. 2nd place in the pool required a Challenge match to determine if they went in the Gold or Silver bracket. That match was won against Colorado Juniors to put them into the Gold Bracket.

The first round of the Gold bracket brought on KIVA; the same team they beat to qualify at Indy. As one coach put it, “It’s always fun to watch Sting and Kiva go at it; it’s always a slug fest.” Two very close games were lost by the Gold, followed by a lost 3rd game to end the season. The finals was against Northern Lights and Fusion with Northern Lights winning in 4. The very strong Northern Lights team only lost 3 games all season! One of which was to the 17 Gold. Ashley Maas was named to the “All Tournament Team”. Congrats Ashley!

The 17 Gold ended their season 54-16 and had 7 of the 10 girls commit to D1 colleges, with the others still shopping. The Sting 17 Gold team represented the club and themselves very well this season. A great bunch of kids and parents!

What a Finish!

Article By: Colleen Houk - 12 Gold

The culmination of a fantastic season for the 12 Gold Team took place at the USAVB Invitational in Minneapolis from June 29th-July 1st.

In the Championship match on center court, the 12 Gold gave Volleyview 12's from Puerto Rico all they could handle. The first game was neck and neck all the way with Sting taking the lead numerous times only to come out on the losing end of a 26-24 score. The second game saw Volleyview take the lead early. However Sting was not going to give up without a battle to the bitter end. With Volleyview sitting at game point, Sting rallied for 5 straight points to force a time out. The spirits were high and did not wane until the final point could not be dug. The final score was 25-20.

We brought home the Silver Medal, but gave a Gold Medal Performance.

Along the way to the Championship, 12 Gold faced a number of very talented teams that kept them on their toes for every point, especially Mizuno Long Beach.

As a coach, one hopes that your team can put it all out there when the time arises. You hope that everyone can step up to the challenge and perform with confidence. This team showed that it could at numerous times throughout the season, but none more than in their final match.

This years' squad finished with a match record of 68-18. Only 3 tournaments were played at the 12's level, with the remainder at the 13's.

This team is full of very motivated, athletic and committed players that are looking forward to contributing for many years to come in the Milwaukee Sting program.

Contributing members of this years' squad were;

  • #4 Kiara Gollakner
  • #5 Kaitlyn Hastings
  • #6 Annie Kunes
  • #7 Claire Raddatz
  • #8 Becky Wolff
  • #11 Sara Blasier
  • #13 Dana Kenney
  • #17 Kaysie Shebeneck
  • #19 Hannah Picel
  • #20 Shelby Shumaker

A BIG High Five, goes out to Savanna Shumaker, the best Assistant Coach ever. Savanna has a lot to offer and will be an integral part of the coaching staff for many years to come.

    Racing to Atlanta....!
    5/16/2006

The qualifier season is over and now our sights are set southward towards Atlanta. This is the Nationals T-Shirt design for 2006. If you want to see a full view of the image, simply click on it. The following is a note from the exalted one (no Marcie isn't back), Colleen.

There are many colors this year in the design, so we have opted to put it on a white tee.

The cost ($16.00) is also a little more due to the amount of colors involved. Sting does not make a profit on these.

I want to get these ordered by next Monday, May 22nd.

Please order ASAP if you are interested in one. For coaches I can take out of your pay.

An order form can be found by clicking here.
