Boys (yes Boys) National HP Tryouts at Waynz World
1.28.2009

Yes, we understand. "But we don't have boys teams?" We are still a volleyball club and in the end, it's about promoting the sport and believe it or not we do have some brothers interested in volleyball at Sting. On the evening of Friday, February 6th from 5:30 - 9:30 USA Volleyball will be holding tryouts for the National High Performance (HP) program. This is not to be confused with the Regional Program Tryouts which have yet to be announced. For those who are unfamiliar with what HP is, it's USAV's "pipeline" program for the National and Olympic teams. Athletes tryout for 1 of 3 levels depending on age. The youngest age group is the "Select" age group. The next level up is the "Youth" age group. The top kids from this program make up our Youth National Team (YNT). The next level up is the "Junior" program with the top athletes at that level making up USA Volleyball's Junior National Team (JNT). Age definitions are defined in this brochure along with everything else you need to know about the tryout.

  • What: National Boys HP Tryout
  • When: February 6th - 5:30pm - 9:30pm
  • Where: Waynz World
  • This is not a Sting hosted event. We are merely trying to do our part and get the word out as we feel it's important for people to be aware of. If you have questions about the tryout, please contact the USA Volleyball High Performance Office at 719.228.6800. The HP Office will be able to answer all of your questions concerning the tryout.

Competition Begins - Have something to say?
    1.19.2009

We are finally under way with the competition portion of the club season. It's the time when we begin to see where our teams stand compared to others and it's the time kids and parents alike get to hang out and enjoy the downtime with one another. Road trips are always fun as evidenced here. Sue Minton is seen here proudly displaying her drink of choice by the half gallon on the bus in Rochester, MN. I wonder if she backs that up with a metamucil chaser?

If your team has a successful outing. If they are improving. If something interesting happens please write about it, send it to us and we will happily add it to the front page of the Sting website. Pictures to go along with the story/article are strongly encouraged. Also, as the season moves forward, you will notice that teams who recently played are listed in a section of the sidebar with where they played and what place they earned. If it's Power League or Badger Tour, results won't be posted until the end because there is no placing from weekend to weekend. Coaches are encouraged to email us with their place and when we get it, we will post it. If your team isn't listed, talk to your coach.

So far, Sting is off to a great start and we have all of the makings of another great season of improvement along with some fun. Keep it up, everyone.
