Walsh Bulldogs Way to Truman State
10.15.2008

Milwaukee Sting 17 White setter Allison Walsh (Greendale H.S.) will be heading to Northeast Missouri to join the Truman State Bulldogs in the fall of 2009. Truman State is an NCAA DII school and is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA). Great job Alli! We are proud of what you have done.

Truman Fun Facts:

  • There are no less than five reported ghosts on campus. "Joan," "Gina," "Charlotte," and an unamed little boy make campus life a bit more interesting.
  • "Truman Pennies" are for good luck and can be located in the statues hat. The penny must be returned after a test is taken to avoid bad luck.
  • Before being known as Truman State, the school was named Northeast Missouri State. In 1930 an annual football game against Northwest Missouri State began a tradition of battling for a polished hickory stick. It is rumored that next years event Northwest Missouri State is going to up the ante from the hickory stick to the actual naming rights of Truman State as they are beginning to feel slighted.

  • Bartz Roars to Verbal
    10.6.2008

2008 Sting 17 Gold player, Anna Bartz (Burlington H.S.) has verbally committed to the UW-Milwaukee Panthers. The Panthers compete in the NCAA DI Horizon league. UW-Milwaukee is no stranger to the Sting program as 7 current members of the Panther squad are Milwaukee Sting alums. Congratulations, Anna! We are proud of you.

    Milwaukee Fun Facts:

  • If you pronounce Milwaukee, "Mil-Waukee" and not "Miw-Aukee," you are an outsider.
  • If you yell, "Hey Schmidt" in a crowded room, 60% of the people will respond with, "What?".
  • The flame-shaped light on top of the Milwaukee Gas Company building changes color to forecast the weather. Yellow is cold, Red is warm, Blue means no change and Infrared indicates an alien invasion is near.
  • As part of their foreign language department, UWM offers a class titled, "Der-Hey 101."

  • Add One More to the Stampede
    9.18.2008

Andrea Henning (Kettle Moraine Lutheran, H.S.) is joining the herd at NDSU next season! Henning will become a Bison in the fall of 2009. From KML Charger to NDSU 'Charging' Bison, not a bad fit at all. Not only is Fargo known for the Bison nation but they have quite the history of ghost sightings as well. It's rumored that a female ghost roams a West Fargo School with a knife in her head. In an old West Fargo M.S. a girl...or is it ghoul(?) laughs until one looks at her at which point she screams and fades away. My favorite has to be the sighting of an old indian chief being carried about by a moped. Unable to find any sighting stories on campus, Andrea will be safe amongst the herd. Just remember, if walking around West Fargo at night, beware of ghosts on mopeds.....

Congratulations, Andrea! We are really proud of you.

    MORE Baby News!
    9.18.2008

SimonYes, another coach another baby. Only 3 more and we could field a 6 mo. and under co-ed team. This time it was Christie's turn. Simon Robert Schmid was born last Friday, Sept 12th at 8:46am. Simons birth came a little bit early (4 weeks) so as a precaution he is in the NICU but both mom and Simon are well according to Tracy. Congratulations and good heatlh to everyone!

    Old Face - New Duties
    9.18.2008

No pun intended, honest....Pat Houk, who coaches with Sting, formerly a lead trainer with a sports enhancement facility (Acceleration) and has been a long time affiliate with Milwaukee Sting, will be taking on some additional part-time duties for the club. Besides coaching a team, Pat will do organized Agility & Strength Training, coordinate with Ted Schulte on the Saturday Positional Practices, aid in recruiting, run summer camps and aid newer coaches.

    New Player Advocate Program
    9.18.2008

This year we will be adding two volunteer Player Advocates. These people will be available to players and parents if either feels they are not getting resolution of an issue via the coach. They will attempt to resolve an issue with the players' best interests in mind. Obviously issues are best resolved through the coach, but we want to create another avenue for resolution if an impasse of an issue occurs. Ted Schulte & two parents that will be named at a later date will be the advocates and can be reached with player issues.

    Moving
    9.18.2008

We will be moving our Sting Office to our primary practice facility, Center Court Sports Complex on December 1, 2008. The official address will be: 815 Northview Rd. Waukesha, WI 53188.

    Open House
    9.18.2008

Open House for volleyball clubs will be held at Center Court on October 26 from 12-4. Prospective players are encouraged to check out the various clubs in the area to determine the best fit for their volleyball experience. Sting coaches are welcome to attend and answer questions.
